Malvi Ranchoddas & Co. is a Mumbai-based firm of advocates, solicitors & notary with a continuous presence in the city for over 125 years.
Our History
Between 1896–97, the late Mr. Tribhovandas Malvi, together with two associates, founded the Firm under the name “Malvi Hiralal & Modi”. The Firm assumed its present name, Malvi Ranchoddas & Co., in or about 1929–30.
Through the middle of the 20th century, between 1959 and 1970, the Firm was reconstituted from time to time through mergers and demergers, finally regaining its present name in 1971. Across each transition, the Firm has upheld the professional culture of mentorship and the rich traditions laid down by its founding partners more than a century ago.
Today the Firm has offices in Mumbai and Pune, and an associate office in Ahmedabad operating as Malvi Ranchoddas Girish N. Shah & Co. Managing partners Mr. Prakash Mehta and Mr. Shreekant Mehta, direct descendants of the founding family, continue to be the Firm’s guiding force.
Milestones
Foundation
The late Mr. Tribhovandas Malvi, together with two associates, founds the Firm in Bombay under the name Malvi Hiralal & Modi — beginning a continuous legal presence that endures to this day.
The Present Name
In or about 1929-30, the Firm assumes its present name, Malvi Ranchoddas & Co., carrying forward the traditions of its founding partners.
Reconstitution
Between 1959 and 1970, the Firm is reconstituted from time to time through a series of mergers and demergers.
Name Regained
The Firm regains its original name, Malvi Ranchoddas & Co., consolidating the practice under the founding family’s descendants.
Global Network
The Firm strengthens its international reach as a member of Mackrell International, spanning more than 60 countries and 4,500 lawyers.
